Solid half-basket hilted sword
Solid half-basket hilted sword, owned by Commander W.M. Phipps Hornby. The hilt has a solid half-basket guard with raised bars, a folding flap and a crown and anchor badge. There is a white fish-skin grip and a lion's-head pommel bound with three gilt wires. The blade is slightly curved with a flat-back. The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets and a chape.
