St Michael, Azores from the 'Birkdale'
Image information
St Michael, Azores from the 'Birkdale'
A sketch looking towards the island of St Michael, Azores, from the 'Birkdale'. The artist has shown the land in profile as a dark blue mass on the horizon. Above is a block of lighter blue representing clouds rising up over the land. The sky is light yellow and highlights the shapes of the darker clouds and land. The sea has been loosely sketched. Everett joined the barque, 'Birkdale', and sailed from Bristol to Sabine Pass, Texas, April to June 1920.
