Stanley and Kalulu
Albumen print in carte de visite format. Part of the Michael Graham-Stewart slavery collection. 8 year old Kalulu Ndugu M'Hali was given to H.M. Stanley by a slave trader and became his close personal companion until his death. Kalulu drowned crossing the Congo River on Stanley's 1874-77 expedition.
