Tank testing model; Design model
Scale: Unknown. A full hull tank testing model of possible a destroyer(?) of an unknown date and class . It is constructed in bread and butter fashion comprising of a lower solid hull section with two additional planks for the upperworks, all of which have been gauged out internally to produce a hull of about 3/4 inch in thickness. Internally the wood is finished in a red pale pink, possibly a diluted read lead paint and is complete with four wooden beams or stretchers athwart ships to hold the hull rigid, act as bearers for the lead ballast and also for handling the hull itself. Externally the hull has been varnished which over time has crazed or been rubbed off and in some places even repaired with filler. At the stern there is evidence of where a pair of propeller shafts would have exited the hull as well as shallow cavitation above to allow the turning. There is also evidence of screw holes all along the top edge of the hull, which would suggest that there was a deck at some point. There is also a loose part of another tow tank model inside of a different type and possible scale.
