Terrestrial and celestial spheres
Terrestrial and celestial miniature globe. Geographical details on the terrestrial sphere show a simple outline of the continents. The 'Antipoten of Nuremberg' are marked with 'Vancovens In' at the north-west coast of America. Tasmania is labelled 'Van Diemen Ld'. A total of four oceans are named. As Tasmania is drawn as an island, this suggests a date of construction after 1805.
