The arrow missed the heart
This image shows the journey of Comet/2014 E2 Jacques in the path of the spectacular NGC 896 Nebula. The nebula glows with red hydrogen atoms that have been excited by radiation from the luminous stars at its centre. The comet in the image is of a greenish colour, which is a result of carbon atoms.
