The barque 'J P Smith'
A ship's portrait of the barque 'J.P.Smith' shown broadside-on and under sail. The initials of her name are visible on the flag flying from the main mast, and a number of figures can be seen on the deck. The artist has shown the 'J.P.Smith' with other boats in the distance, including a paddle steamer on the far left with coastline beyond. This may show the coast near Liverpool where the artist lived and worked. The 'J.P.Smith' was originally known as the 'Manoah'.
