'The Confession', detail
The confession' by H. Cook after Alfred Edward Chalon. This print may relate to a story of the same name. A woman with dark flowing gowns is leaning forward to hear the confession of a young boy who is covering his face with his right hand. A younger woman wearing a gown with bare shoulders is looking down, evidently aggrieved by the confession.
