Image information
The Dutch fleet at anchor off the coast
This scene depicts the Dutch fleet at anchor. While the ships are positioned off the coast, land is only visible in a very thin strip on the horizon. On the far left is a stern view of a ship with a smalschip floating alongside it. In the foreground on the left are two smaller rowing boats occupied by people. On the right is a stern view of the vice-admiral of the centre and beyond her, a bow view of another ship, firing a salute. There is another small rowing boat in the foreground on the right, and several more rowing boats, depicted as tiny vessels on the water, stretching back towards the horizon on the far right.
