The East Indiaman 'Sutlej' in a hurricane
In a Hurricane off the Cape on the Morning of April 1st 1848 at 1/2 past 3 - in Lat 16.20 S Lon 23.58 E'. The 'Sutlej' 1159 tons (Lloyd's) was built in 1847 by Green's for their company's London to Calcutta run. The print is said to be signed by the artist in the plate but this is not visible on this image, though it appears to be lower left. See also PAH0602.
