The Jocund Peasants
Print by J. Browne after Cornelis Dusart, entitled ' The Jocund Peasant'. It shows a group of peasant seated at a table in a courtyard, drinking and smoking pipes. Cornelis Dusart was Van Ostade's pupil. He specialised in the unembellished portrayal of peasants' lives, and the depictions of fairs and village festivals.
