The Old Royal Observatory, Greenwich
Image information
The Old Royal Observatory, Greenwich
Signed and inscribed in pencil by the artist, and with his name in the plate. The artist has also written the number '6/75' in pencil ahead of the title but it is not clear if this indicates June 1975 or no. 6 of an edition of 75. 1975 in fact saw the 300th anniversary of the Observatory and that date is consistent with the general scene shown on what is apparently a summer day, with the time-ball on Flamsteed House about to drop at 13.00.
