The rescue of the crew of the 'Cleopatra', at dawn in the Bay of Biscay
The voyage of Cleopatra's Needle to London was troublesome and tragic. A gale raging in the Bay of Biscay forced the steamer 'Olga', which towed the 'Cleopatra', to abandon her. Six crew members of the 'Olga' drowned when they tried to rescue the crew of the 'Cleopatra'.
