The ship 'Palestine'
A ship's portrait showing the 'Palestine' in full sail and broadside-on. It is flying the flag of the United States of America from the stern and the house flag of the Black Cross Line from the main mast. Several crew members are busy working in the bow of the ship, there is coastline in the distance on the far left. The 'Palestine' was a transatlantic packet built by Messrs Jacob and Westervelt in 1854 for the Black Cross Line.
