The steamship 'Dorunda'

A portrait of the steamship 'Dorunda' probably commissioned to celebrate the completion of the vessel. She is shown with three masts and with smoke trailing from her funnel. She is shown flying the flag of the British India Associated Steamers dating from 1873. Built on the Clyde by shipbuilders William Denny and Brothers of Dumbarton in 1875 it was a screw steamer, of 2,977 tons. The 'Dorunda' was used as a passenger cargo vessel by the British India Steam Navigation Company Limited. She travelled to Australia and back and was wrecked on Portuguese coast, September 1894.
