The Temeraire being towed to Deptford to be broken up
Three pencil studies of the ship under side tow by two paddle tugs. The title is inscribed in Duncan’s hand in pencil across the top: his initial signature ‘ED’ is lower left and his similar red studio stamp lower right. The ship under tow is no larger than a naval two-decker, so in fact smaller than the 98-gun three-decker 'Temeraire'.
