Three pencil studies of the ship under side tow by two paddle tugs.The title is inscribed in Duncan’s hand in pencil across the top: his initial signature ‘ED’ is lower left and his similar red studio stamp lower right. The ship under tow is no larger than a naval two-decker, so in fact smaller than the 98-gun three-decker 'Temeraire'.
