The 'Tiger' with yachts astern in light airs

One of many drawings recording Charles II's visit to the newly rebuilt 'Tiger' at Woolwich (17-27 August 1681) before she sailed under Lord Charles Berkeley for the Mediterranean. After dining on board he went on to Sheerness and Chatham in the yachts, returning up the Thames the following day. The 'Tiger' is in starboard-quarter view in the centre middle distance, with the royal standard at the main. In the foreground are two bezan yachts, in stern view before the wind, and firing salutes: the one on the right is labeled 'Isabel' (Isabella) and the one on the left 'Lord Umblaen'.
