In the background, the bow of the 'Mermaid' (meermert), the 'Greyhound' (de grahont) and 'Saudadoes' (de soldate), sixth-rates and a ketch (de kidts). In the foreground, the 'Katherine' (katarijn) and the 'Mary' (de Marije) with a standard at the masthead, and the 'Montagu' (de montaguie), Sir John Holmes, with the Union flag at the main, firing a salute (incorrectly inscribed in pencil Sr Robbert hooms tschip/de monteguij). In the foreground, the 'Charles' (de siarles), 'Anne' (de Anne Jacht), 'Portsmouth' (de Portsmout) and Navy yachts (de Navij Jachts). On the right horizon, Vice-Admiral Jan van Nes with the Dutch escort (in pencil: visd John van nes met de duitse schepen). The drawing was copied by van de Velde in brown ink over pencil.

Manufactured in the UK

All products are printed in the UK, using the latest digital presses and a giclée printmaking process.

We only use premium branded inks, and colours are independently verified to last between 100 and 200 years.

Delivery & returns

We print everything to order so delivery times may vary but all framed pictures are despatched within 5-7 days via courier or recorded mail.

Due to the coronovirus pandemic and Brexit situation, current shipping times may be longer, particularly for destinations outside the UK.

Delivery to the UK is £10 for a single framed print.

We will happily replace your order if everything isn’t 100% perfect.
