Print inscribed, 'This Print representing the East India Ship 'Vernon', Geo Denny Commander, on her voyage out, fitted with a Steam Engine of 30 horse power, passing HM ships 'Edinburgh' ; 'Blenheim' ,74s, beating down Channel on the 21st of September 1839 off Benbridge [sic], Isle of Wight...'. The ship is Green's 'Vernon' of 1838. This print from an original painting by John Lynn (see BHC3686) shows her with her original auxiliary paddles, later removed.
