Three English ships in stays

Three English ships in stays. On the left, a lee bow view of a small ship close-hauled on the port tack under fore course, mizzen, topsails and main topgallant; the luff of her foresail lifting. On the right, a starboard broadside view of a ship with her fore topsail aback and her main topsail and mizzen filled on the port tack. Another ship also aback is in the centre middle-distance.

Part of a group of 13 drawings cut from an album of van de Velde drawings bound up by Paul Sandby. All the drawings are very rapidly and broadly done in pencil. There are other drawings of this group in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

Manufactured in the UK

All products are printed in the UK, using the latest digital presses and a giclée printmaking process.

We only use premium branded inks, and colours are independently verified to last between 100 and 200 years.

Delivery & returns

We print everything to order so delivery times may vary but all framed pictures are despatched within 5-7 days via courier or recorded mail.

Due to the coronovirus pandemic and Brexit situation, current shipping times may be longer, particularly for destinations outside the UK.

Delivery to the UK is £10 for a single framed print.

We will happily replace your order if everything isn’t 100% perfect.
