Twas in Trafalgar's Bay - Turner's 'Trafalgar' explained by a Greenwich Pensioner

A print set in the Naval Gallery in the Painted Hall at Greenwich. It shows a one-legged Greenwich Pensioner dressed in pensioner's uniform displaying two medals. He is looking towards a young boy wearing a late-Victorian sailor suit. His right hand points in explanation towards J. M. W. Turner's painting 'The Battle of Trafalgar', 1822-1824, (see BHC0565) and his hat and telescope rest on a chair behind him. The title of the image suggests that he is using the painting to help him tell the story of the battle of Trafalgar. Turner's painting is not reproduced accurately either in terms of subject-matter or size.
