An oval head and part-shoulders miniature of an unidentified lady, probably still in her teens or very early twenties, in an oval gilt suspension frame. The watercolour includes some bodycolour, (gouache). The sitter is turned slightly to her right looking out at the viewer. She wears a blue low cut gown with a lace edge to the decolletage and a choker of pearls round the neck. Her dark hair is piled up with a much longer string of pearls woven through it. To the right in the background is part of a grey circular shape, not easily identifiable.
