Vanitas Still Life
This is the only example of still-life painting in the National Maritime Museum's collections, and is one of Collier’s best. Made the year after his probable arrival in London in 1693, the English texts suggest it was intended for the English market. Collier's compositions often feature hidden political and social commentary.
