Vickers Mark III
Vickers machine gun. A recoil operated, water cooled machine gun with link-belt feed. The belt holds 200 rounds of ammunition. The calibre is 0.5in. The gun is in a wooden box. Inscribed on the object is '5 ; VMG Mark III 1934'. The Vickers Mark III machine gun was introduced in 1932 and used by the Royal Navy as an anti-aircraft gun and was mounted on board larger ships in quadruple MK1,1**,II, II* and III mountings.
