Warship and dispatch vessel 'Mogami' (1908)
Scale: 1:48. A model of the Japanese dispatch vessel 'Mogami' (1908) made in wood, painted in realistic colours, with gold and silver plated fittings. The hull is painted red below the waterline and dark grey above. Hull fittings include bilge keels, three-bladed propellers, two rudders, and two companion ladders rigged on port and starboard broadsides. There are four rows of port holes, two each at the fore and aft ends, and there is a chrysanthemum emblem at the bow and Japanese characters on the port and starboard quarters. The decks are all unpainted wood, scored to resemble planking. Foredeck details include three small guns, ventilators, a raised open bridge, and an ensign staff at the bow. Bridge equipment includes a wheel, two telegraphs, a binnacle, a signaling lamp on a travelling rail, and port and starboard navigation lights. The funnel housings, gun casings, ship's boats, funnels, and mast are all painted dark grey. The single mast is rigged with a yard and gaff boom. The three funnels are in line, circular or round in section, and slightly raked. There are six ship's boats, all different, stowed on davits. There are two torpedo launchers, one on the port side, and one on the starboard. Aft deck details include three guns, and a secondary bridge with a signal telegraph.
