Whaling harpoon
Whaling gun harpoon, double-barbed with 'stop-withers'. Inscription: 'E M KELLIE 1884.' It belonged to the vessel 'The Earl of Mar and Kellie' an Arctic whaler, built in 1856 at Alloa. During 1884 she was a wood barque of 430 tons belonging to J. Duthie of Peterhead. Between 1888-1890, now with an auxillary steam engine, she formed part of the Dundee whale fleet owned by W.B. Thompson, Dundee.
