Woody Point, Vancouver's Island, July 8th 1851 [Canada]

Mounted in album with PAI4605-PAI4661, PAI4663-PAI4670.; No.55. No. 55 in Fanshawe's Pacific album, 1849-1852. Captioned by the artist on the album page below the image, as title. Woody Point is a prominent headland on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada, and was given the name in 1778 by Captain Cook when exploring the coast on his third and last Pacific voyage. This is a view from roughly south-west as Fanshawe's 'Daphne' sailed north from Esquimalt on 3 July to Beaver Harbour which they reached on the 10th.
