At the Feet of Orion (NGC1999) - Full Field
At the Feet of Orion (NGC1999) - Full Field
An extremely long exposure brings out billowing dust and gas clouds that are normally overshadowed by their glamorous neighbour at the top of the image, the dazzling heart of the Orion Nebula. The scatter of bright blue stars illuminates the dust, enabling us to see it. "What a lovely composition this is. Deep reds of swirling gas fill much of the frame, with the pink mist of the outer Orion Nebula Visible in the upper right" Pete Lawrence Born digital photograph entitled 'At the Feet of Orion (NGC1999) - Full Field' by Marco Lorenzi, dated 16th December 2013 Taken at Warrumbungle Observatory, Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia Highly Commended in the Deep Space category of Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2014.
