NGC 2521: Mysterious Galaxy
NGC 2521 is a spiral Galaxy, with enormous amounts of surrounding dust and stray stars glowing far out from its main disc. A bright array of contrasting colour tones are present in this image, generated by ageing yellow-red stars, younger blue-white stars burning aggresively, and various nebulae throughout the disk. This image comprises approximately 20.5 hours of exposure time. "The composition of this image with the galaxy placed in the centre surrounding by its own area of the Universe adds to its power. Like catching a first glimpse of the city limits ahead after a long drive."
