Rigel and the Witch Head Nebula

The whole scene includes some galaxies and faint red hydrogen emission. Where there is very faint molecular cloud it is lit up from Rigel, and the seventh brightest star of the sky and the brightest star in the constellation of Orion. Born digital photograph entitled 'Rigel and the Witch Head Nebula' taken by Mario Cogo at Tivoli Southern Sky Guest Farm, Namibia on 20th August 2017. Taken with Takahashi FSQ 106 ED telescope; Astro-Physics 1200 GTO mount; Canon Eos 6D Cooling CDS Mod; 385 mm; f/3,6. Runner-Up of Stars & Nebulae category of Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018.
