Near Yokohama, Japan
A delicately lit country view, probably towards evening, with the sun coming from the left (west), rural buildings on the right and Japanese figures walking away from Butt in the lane. That on the right is presumably a farm worker in a broad straw hat carrying buckets on a pole over his shoulder, with the smaller figure of a woman in a kimono accompanying him. The bulbous structures under the trees at the corner of the lane may be hay ricks. PAJ2059 and PAJ2092 are also of Yokohama, which was the port that Butt's ship 'Sylvia' used as its Japanese base of operations.
