A full hull model of a Thames sailing barge
Scale: Unknown. A full hull model of a Thames sailing barge (1913) made entirely in silver. The vessel is depicted fully rigged, with sails furled and set. Fittings include bowsprit, anchor stowed at the starboard bow, bow winch or windlass, furled jib sail, small square hatch forward with cover, long rectangular covered hatch, single mast rigged with furled and set sails, coiled rope, life ring and oars stowed atop the main hatch cover; leeboards and rudder. The model is mounted on a pair of very short supports.
This is one of a small collection of silver models in the NMM collection. It had originally been presented to His Majesty King George V in 1913, and was purchased for the Museum in 1929
