Anchor model by Hawkins
Scale: Unknown. A model of a proposed double anchor (1829) made entirely in iron. The shank is flat oval in section and square in section towards the top. The square section bulges slightly to accommodate the stock. The stock is also flat oval in section and one end points downwards terminating in a small lump. At the top of the shank is a D-ring shackle that swivels on a concealed rivet. A second, slightly smaller, D-ring shackle is attached to the base of the shank. The depicted anchor has no crown but the shank extends to the base upon which is a rectangular collar held on by a bolt. The collar secures a pair of arms with elongated flukes, cast in a single piece, the centre of which has an aperture through which the shank passes. The relative size of the aperture enables the arms to rock back and forth on the shank. Immediately above these arms is a second, smaller, pair of arms and flukes cast as an integral part of the shank.Original size: 225 mm x 148 mm x 178 mm
