Anchor model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Porter's pattern anchor, 1842, made entirely in brass which has been lacquered. The shank is square in section through which is a single crescent-shaped arm which pivots on a large fidded bolt. The upward facing palms are concave and teardrop-shaped and include a small barb on the underside of the arm at its widest point. Just above the arms is a pair of D-shaped gravity shackles which swivel on a bolt. The stock is circular in section and tapers towards its ends and terminates in a pair of disc-shaped buttons. One end of the stock is bent 90 degrees parallel to the shank. It is fidded with a metal wedge on a small chain allowing it to be un-shipped and stowed flat aboard ship. At the top of the shank is a swivelling bow shackle held in place by a round-headed bolt.

Original size: 138 mm x 67 mm x 120 mm
