Anchor model

Scale: Unknown. Model of an anchor design proposed by Mr Spencer at Chatham Dockyard in 1820-22. The model has been made in wood with two square metal hoops binding the asymmetrical stock and a large metal ring, made from lead, at the head of the shank. Both the wooden and metal parts of the model have been painted black. The model has a cylindrical shank ending in a pointed crown which has a hole through it, through which a tripping rope was attached. The flukes are set at approximately 60 degrees to one another. The stock has been made in two sections divided longitudinally and comprises of only part of the traditional style with the protruding end opposite to the pair of flukes. Number "22" on shank.

Original size: 527 mm x 280 mm x 205 mm
