'Argonaute'; warship; 74 guns
Scale: Unknown. A model of the 'Argonaute', a French warship made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 13.40 on 21 October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar and the ship is shown with damage sustained in the battle. The ship is three masted, ship rigged and with set sails, showing shot damage. Dark grey smoke is billowing from gun ports on the port and starboard sides. The hull is painted black with white stripes along the two gun decks. There is a French tricolour flying from the peak of the gaff and a pennant flying from the top of the mainmast. On paper label '11'.
