'Berwick'; warship; 74 guns
Scale: Unknown. A model of a French warship 'Berwick', made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings, which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 13.40 on 21 October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar and shows damage to ship sustained during action. The ship is three masted and ship rigged on all three masts. The sails all show shot damage. The bowsprit and jib boom is complete, but damaged. The fore topmast is missing as well as the upper yards. The main mast is damaged in places. The mizzen is also damaged. The stern galleries, made in one piece, is detached and is currently on the deck. On paper label applied to port quarter '8'. The hull is painted black with white stripes along the gun decks, white on the deck, and black on the deck fittings.
