Bowl, part of a set reputedly belonging to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805)
Sugar box, part of a tea service said to have belonged to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). It is oval-shaped, and has two moulded handles with thumb scrolls and a cover. The cover has a high moulded knop decorated with gilding. The sugar box is decorated with leaf sprays and red and blue flowers, painted on a white background. The service formed part of the collection of the Royal United Services Museum, and was said to have been acquired by the grandfather of the donor at the sale of Lord Nelson's effects.
