Cargo vessel
Scale: Unknown. A contemporary half block model of a powered general cargo ship, circa 1860. The hull is constructed from solid wood planks in bread and butter fashion, lightly stained and varnished. The bow has a very narrow entry with a vertical stem, and leads into a very shallow and wide draughted midship section. At the stern, there is a rudder mounted to a skeg which is located under the long and tapering counter. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard which has been lightly stained and varnished. On the reverse is a handwritten inscription (faint) stating that the model reputedly represents the first vessel on the Thames fitted with a screw.

Delivery to the UK is £10 for a single framed print.
