Creamware jug

Creamware jug, barrel shaped, transfer-printed in black and painted in full colour, particularly red, purple, blue, yellow and green. On one side, a scene of a sailor in purple striped trousers and a blue coat with yellow facings, following a lady holding a parasol, with a country scene, dog, church, cottages and windmill in the background. Inscription below: 'JACK on a CRUISE'. On the other side a portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) in a cocked hat and yellow-laced blue coat (after an original print of Rodney); ships are shown in the background.
