Der Suldner Ferner in Tyrol
Inscribed 'Der Suldner Ferner [Glacier] in Tyrol, Austria'. John Herschel made a number of trips across Europe in the 1820s visiting and often carrying out experiments at sites of geological interest including several important mountains and glaciers. Though this is not one he is documented as having visited, the inclusion of it in the family's collection of prints and drawings is very probably the result of this interest.
