HMS 'Leander' (1931)
Scale: 1:96. A half block shipbuilders model of HMS 'Leander' (1931), a light cruiser. The model is made largely of wood with some metal fittings and constructed in bread and butter fashion. The hull is painted a pinkish brown below the waterline with the upperworks and bulwarks painted black, and divided by a thin white line along the waterline. Painted on to the black part of the hull are circular portholes and a single hawse pipe aperture. There is a single rudder fitted at the stern together with a pair of propellers and bracket (one missing), and a bilge keel amidships.There are two decks which are painted a light brown colour overall on which is mounted various blocks of superstructure, accommodation and armament, most of which is painted a dark grey. Fixtures and fittings include four pairs of main armament guns at bow and stern, a central bridge superstructure, a pair of lifeboat davits, a funnel painted light yellow, a flying boat together with crane, searchlights and small armament towards the stern. The model is mounted on a wooden backboard painted creamy-white, with a stained and varnished mahogany edging. Name "Leander" on plaque.Original size: 285 mm x 1765 mm x 110 mm
