Oval, brown glass intaglio engraved with a depiction of the head of Emma, Lady Hamilton (circa 1765-1815). Emma is facing to the left and has her hair in a bandeau. A cover sent by Nelson to the Right Honourable George Rose at Palace Yard, bears a seal impression executed in black wax, which was taken from this intaglio (see NMM AGC/35/2). A similar glass seal said to have belonged to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) is now held in the British Museum.
