Lacquered papier-maché tray depicting the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805
It is rectangular with rounded corners, the sides coloured red and black with gold floral decoration. The depiction of Trafalgar in the centre, in oils within a gold and black border, may be based on an engraving of Clarkson's Stanfield's large painting of 1836 for the United Service Club, though the orientation is partly reversed.
