The slides carry a trademark consisting of a letter Y with a serpent coiled round it, the trademark of the photographers and lantern slide-manufacturers, York & Son. The subjects include sunspot images, photoheliographs, the solar spectrum, spectroscopes and eclipses 1836-1869.
