Mounted in album with PAI4605-PAI4648, PAI4650-PAI4670.; No.42. Technique includes scraped highlights. No. 42 in Fanshawe's Pacific album, 1849-1852. Captioned by the artist on the album page below the image, as title. For the circumstances of Fanshawe and the 'Daphne', shown at anchor here, being at Mazatlan on the Mexican Pacific coast (15 August- 9 October 1850), see PAI4648. In 1879 a lighthouse (El Faro) was built on the conical hill shown. Fanshawe did three views at Mazatlan in 1850 (PAI4648 - PAI4650) and one in 1851 (PAI4699).
