Playford - from a sketch by Mrs Airy
Print of Playford, the residence of Sir George Airy, Astronomer Royal, from a sketch by Mrs Airy. Playford was the Airy's second home. George Biddell Airy bought this cottage in 1845. Playford, in East Anglia had been the place in which Airy grew up. The Airys also owned a house a little closer to the Observatory where George spent most of his working life: the White House, Croom's Hill, close to Greenwich Park.Richarda AiryOriginal size: 377 mm x 277 mm
