Portrait of the 'Tromp'

Also called 'Multitromp' she was built in 1655 and last mentioned in 1667. She is viewed from the port quarter. On the tafferel are perhaps Tromp's arms: a fleur-de-lis in an oval shield decorated with mantling. Above is a figure seated between two dolphins. Two shields are on the counter, there are crossed anchors on the port side and a lion rampant, representing the Admiralty of Amsterdam on the starboard side. Offset not rubbed on the back, from a detailed original; the guns only have been strengthened with pencil, and a little untidy wash has been added to the side. It has been approximately dated by the watermark.
