Seascape from the 'Penaglis M. Hadoulis'

A sketch of a seascape from the 'Penaglis M. Hadoulis'. It shows an expanse of blue sea with the ridges of the waves arranged in lines diagonally across the surface of the water. The effect is of a rhythmic pattern reinforced by the short brush strokes of darker colour forming the ridges of the waves. Everett has created the effect of calm both on the water and in the sky. At intervals the waves have broken and white foamy crests have formed. On the horizon the white sails of a ship are visible. He sailed in the Greek-owned steamer, 'Penaglis M. Hadoulis', from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932.
