Sectional model; Bow model; Frame model
Scale: Unknown. The model is made almost entirely of wood and held together with brass pins. It is finished in its natural colour and varnished. It depicts a section of lower keel and stempost together with sixteen lower frames held in position by a single ribband, four planks and a garboard strake fitted on the starboard side. The small section of planking can be removed from the model by a undoing a pair of small brass thumbscrews. The stempost and keel illustrate the various components, together with the rabbit lines on either side, in its construction as well as supporting one complete floor section in frame. According to the catalogue this system was adopted after 1813 and was still in use up until 1869. The model is stamped with 'D5' and has a paper lable with: '17'. Every other frame has been annotated with: 'dble futtk'. Every three frames has 'first head' and 'second head' handwritten in black ink. Inside the model is a handwritten label that is illegible.
